Spends 35 Years On The Streets to Expose Government Sponsored Abuse of Women and Children
The Extraordinary Story of a 35-Year-Long Fight Against Violence and Injustice
In the mid-1990s, the plaintiff, a young Black man, took a stand against violence and predatory behavior near the University of California, Berkeley. Alongside other recent graduates, he volunteered to patrol the area, identifying and intervening in assaults against university students, particularly female coeds. His commitment to protecting others would set the foundation for a lifelong journey of heroism.
One fateful evening, as a local club, Larry Blake’s, was closing, the plaintiff observed a group of men behaving suspiciously. Among them was a former star linebacker from a local high school, who aggressively harassed a female student-athlete while her companion repeatedly tried to intervene. Witnessing this, the plaintiff stepped in to de-escalate the situation. Although the initial confrontation appeared to resolve, tensions quickly reignited when the harasser recognized the plaintiff and instigated further hostility. Within moments, the plaintiff found himself surrounded by a hostile crowd of young men.
What happened next was remarkable. Despite being outnumbered four to one, the plaintiff swiftly defended himself, incapacitating two attackers in seconds and forcing the others to retreat. This altercation drew a larger crowd, and chaos ensued as the plaintiff stood his ground against dozens of men. His friend, J. Allee, a former high school basketball star, intervened to calm the situation, ultimately helping to de-escalate the conflict and prevent further harm.
When the police arrived, the plaintiff was initially seen as the aggressor due to the number of injured individuals. However, eyewitnesses, including fraternity members and the victims of the assault, passionately defended him, ensuring he was not wrongfully arrested. This event marked the beginning of an extraordinary 35-year legacy in which the plaintiff would go on to protect over a thousand women and children in moments of crisis.
A Lifetime of Courage and Advocacy
The plaintiff’s most notable act of heroism occurred in 2022 at the Oakland Public Library. There, he intervened to protect six to eight librarians from a knife-wielding assailant, displaying the same bravery and quick thinking that had defined his life. This incident took place just months after he had officially retired from his role as a protector of vulnerable individuals.
Ironically, his retirement began near the very location of his first act of heroism—one block from Larry Blake’s at the University of California, Berkeley. Even in his final days of active protection, he confronted attackers, defusing dangerous situations with both physical skill and unwavering resolve. In one such instance, he videotaped a confession from a suspect and submitted it to campus police, only to face inaction—a recurring theme throughout his journey.
Despite his unwavering dedication, the plaintiff repeatedly encountered systemic resistance from local law enforcement. Police departments in Berkeley, San Francisco, El Cerrito, and Oakland failed to acknowledge his heroic deeds, often omitting his role from official reports or actively downplaying his contributions. In Oakland, this refusal to recognize his efforts led to the filing of a lawsuit against the police department, highlighting broader issues of corruption and negligence.
Building a Legacy Beyond Heroism
Inspired by his experiences, the plaintiff launched several initiatives to address systemic issues in his community. ArchitectsofFear.com was created to raise awareness about the abuse of women and children by law enforcement entities, while BillionaireYouthFoundation.com aimed to provide creative job opportunities in entertainment for Black and Brown youth in Oakland. These efforts culminated in the establishment of God1on1.org, a platform dedicated to fostering hope, justice, and empowerment.
A Hero’s Fight for Justice
The plaintiff’s story is one of unparalleled bravery and resilience. Over three decades, he faced not only physical threats but also institutional obstacles designed to diminish his contributions. Yet he persisted, standing as a defender of those the system often overlooked. His journey is a testament to the power of individual action in the face of injustice and a reminder that true heroism transcends recognition or reward.
As his legal battles against systemic corruption continue, the plaintiff’s story serves as an inspiration for others to stand up against violence, protect the vulnerable, and demand accountability from institutions meant to serve the public. His legacy is a beacon of hope for future generations and a challenge to create a more just society.
